Underneath the U3 train track and occupying almost all of Iserstrasse in Eppendorf lays not only one of Hamburg’s most iconic markets, dating all the way back to 1949, but also one of the longest outdoor markets in Europe! The 1 kilometer-long market is filled on Tuesdays and Fridays with local stalls offering only the best quality ingredients (or flowers or clothes!) from northern Germany. What makes this market extra special is that the products are one of a kind, from hand-carved wooden statues sold by the actual craftsman that made them to hand-knitted baby clothes or pillow covers. Of course for the hungry there are plenty of stalls offering food ready made using the delicious local ingredients that can be enjoyed right on the spot.
